Have you ever taken time to ponder the question “Why do I follow Jesus?” Certainly He did leave the glories of Heaven and live as a man on this earth, and suffer, and die, and gloriously rise from the grave to secure your eternal home forever. But what is it that prompts you to seek Him? Think for a moment about the gospel of John. Some such as Andrew and John in Chapter 1 heard Jesus, were in awe, and followed. Do you listen and follow? In John 4, the Samaritan woman at the well was told everything she had ever done. Is that what it takes to follow? Many she told believed just because she told them. Do you always hear and believe? In John 6, Jesus performed many miracles, and people believed and followed. Do you have to see a miracle? Also in John 6, Jesus fed the multitude and they followed. Do you have to have all your physical needs met? In other places, He opened the eyes both spiritual and physical and the blind man saw Jesus. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Surely this would be what you needed to follow. But in all these passages, the true and real answer is John 20:27-29. “Blessed are those who have not seen but believe”. I hope and pray that is you today. If not, then come to Jesus and know the real peace and joy you can have in the promise of eternal life in Jesus.–Lee Ann Hawkins
